If you are shopping on the internet and you can’t physically touch it, you want to examine a really clear image of the product before you click the Buy button. This is where the white comes in. It is clean, pure and offers no distractions, allowing the product to be the star. For the retailer it offers a continuity of style that is easily maintained across the page and suitable for a variety of platforms, including web, brochures and PR. Add a clipping path and you can combine them to create groups, mix and match them or place them on a background. Although the concept is simple, the same skills and techniques remain when lighting the product. Remember it is the product you are selling, not the background.
